When the Centre was functioning in a small area of space, the late Chairman Rev. Cannon Rathnayake took the initiative to obtain the lease of land through the late president the Hon. Ranasinghe Premadasa. Subsequently, the late Chairman Mr. T. R. R. Rajan and Mr. Shamil Pieris were able to generate funds from the Rotary Movement and other foreign funding agencies including the Royal Norwegian Government through NORAD, USAID etc. to construct a new building and purchase vital equipment for the manufacturing of artificial limbs.

Staff
- The Physiotherapy unit employs four Rehabilitation Therapy Assistants guided by a qualified expatriate Physiotherapist.
- The Prosthetic and Orthotic unit employs four Bench Technicians, two Practitioner Assistants and three qualified category II Prosthetist and Orthotist.
- The General office consists of five administrative staff members ( Manager, Accountant, PR Officer & two Clerks) and a Storekeeper.
